ABOUT US

The name of our website is a little strange, we will be the first to admit. However, the meaning behind it is quite suited we believe. It comes from two places, the noun Ludonarrative and Latin. Ludo translates as "game" and Narro translates as "narrate".

While this alone would be a nice meaning behind a name, there is also the rather long word listed above to think about. Ludonarrative is a compound term used to "refer to the intersection in a video game of ludic elements (gameplay) and narrative elements". While the word is less than a decade old, it has become more and more relevant as the scope and landscape of modern gaming changes so rapidly.

As for what we do here, we are a team of two, reviewing the hidden gems of the gaming world. We find new and old indie games and we introduce you (as well as ourselves) to the worlds these games create. There is no game too small or too old, if we feel it needs some extra love, then we love to write about it.

My introduction to video games was Lego Star Wars for the Wii, what an introduction that was. Since the age of 12 I've played video games as my main past-time, favouring narrative-based games such as Life is Strange, but only recently have I begun to appreciate the indie game scene. I've found the Xbox Game Pass to have been an invaluable tool in surrounding myself with as many games as I could, and finding the gems hidden between the triple A behemoths

By writing here and assisting in all things technical, I'm glad to say my passion for the video game medium has only grown. I hope you enjoy what we have to offer here at Narro Ludo!

I remember clearly the first video game I ever owned- Christmas of 05, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team- and I've been glued to controllers ever since. My love for indie games started in the early 2010's, when they were really starting to pick up steam- I'd began to search for indie games, falling for their unique genre-bends and freedom for creative- as well as the cheaper price tag! Through my work as part of the Narro Ludo team, I aim to share and express my love of indie games, and hopefully take on the role of the content creators that started me off, by encouraging you to search out for some indie gems you may have missed.
